Located in the San Juan mountains at an elevation of 10,500 feet, thirteen miles from Lake City and forty-five miles from Creede, this rare “inholding” offers direct access to forests, wild flower meadows, a perennial stream and mountain horizons. Our “dark skies” are some of the most stunning in North America.
Entirely off-grid and solar-powered, designed and built with sustainability and wildfire resistance as our overriding goals, this unique and beautiful property offers complete privacy with direct access to the natural treasures of the Colorado mountains. It rests mere minutes away from exceptional fly-fishing, endless miles of hiking and mountain biking, and extraordinary opportunities for wildlife viewing and photography. We can refer experienced local guides for a variety of adventures.

Mariposa Meadows is a totally smoke-free property and does not accommodate off-road recreational vehicles or trailers. We do not accept children under 18 years of age or pets. Our goal is to deliver unmatched exclusivity for those seeking nature, peaceful surroundings, and opportunities to unplug and recharge.

We recommend duffels or soft luggage, layered clothing, sturdy outdoor/hiking footwear, your favorite comfy slippers for indoors (guest slippers are available on request), and sunscreen suitable for the elevation.
A three-night minimum stay is required. Rates are as follows:

Atrium Duet: Each living unit is offered at a rate of $750 per night for one or two guests, plus $150 housekeeping fee per stay. If visiting with family or friends the rate for both living quarters is $1,300 per night, plus housekeeping fees. Access to all of the common spaces is included in either case.

Iris Studio: $500 per night for one or two guests, plus $150 housekeeping fee per stay. Access to all of the common spaces is included.
Options for food and beverages are guests’ choice. All living units feature complete kitchens and full-size appliances. You may choose to plan, provide and prepare your own meals if you prefer.

Concierge service is available on a case-by-case, prepaid basis as well. We can pick up your order and stock the kitchen in advance of your visit.

Full dining (3 meals daily) can also be arranged on request, available at a rate of $300 per person per day. For wine and spirits add an additional $100 per person per night.

These options include a hearty, healthy breakfast (served family style at a civilized hour) and snack options along with satisfying lunches for relaxing onsite or packed for on-the-go-adventures.
Dinner menus are customized in advance for a variety of tastes and appetites. Organic and quality foods from the best regional and premium national sources are prepared to your liking.
Suggestions include, but are not limited to, grilled meats, game and seafood, Mexican specialties and “sophisticated cowboy” cuisine. Vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, and gluten-free options can be provided as well.
